It will become EU law on 11 March unless we act to delay it by making enough noise to send it into a Second Reading, where it must be debated more fully. With your help, we stand a very good chance of forcing the proposed directive into a Second Reading and substantial change. Specifically, we are asking each CODE group to send at least two representatives to the rally and press conference to show support for the cause. Of course we need as many bodies as possible to let the MEPs know how strongly the public is against this law, so if you could send even more people, it would be better. Also, we need your organization to publish and re-distribute the media release announcing the rally and press conference (and possibly also translate it into your native language). This announcement will be sent out and published in the next day or two. We need your help to inform your constituents and the people in your country of this proposed law and the rally to oppose it. Artists are particularly welcome at this event, so if you can help to secure their involvement, it would be a big help. And if you can recommend any speakers that will increase turnout and energize the public, that would be great too. We are organizing a sign-making gathering just before the rally, so it will be a very good chance to meet activists and civil liberties leaders from all over Europe. Please let me know if we can count on support from your organization. This event will only be a success if we put forth a team effort. Also, if you have any suggestions for how we can make this rally and press conference even bigger and more successful, please let me know! Thank you very much for your help and support! All best, Robin Gross IP Justice Executive Director Reminder: Media release announcing EU Rally to follow shortly.
