Message-ID: <20191105153259.j3hh2udrtuvke4iw@belugaspot> Olà! I wont speak Portugese in this e-mail since I'm still learning and am at a very poor level. I'm Maxime, from France, and free software user/developer since a few years. I participated in some free software events, and would like to meet you during this winter. I'm in portugal since a week, and I'm keeping a house for the moment, that I can't leave. I would like to know if there are interesting event during this winter, and if there is good places in Portugal to meet free software enthusiasts. Also, is ANSOL the only portuguese association that's promoting free software? If it's possible, I'd like to meet some of the members of this list, so I can know how I could help at the local level to promote our projets. Quoting wikipedia.org : > License GNU GPLv2 or GPLv3 (clients), proprietary (server) If you want to self-host : you have to develop your own implementation of the protocol. If you want to use your own authentication services (i.e. if the ones from Telegram company are down), it's not possible. There are alternatives, as XMPP, that has proven it's efficiency since years. Since telegram is half-free software and very popular among free software minded people we thought it better to have an inclusive door than a, for all practical purposes, closed door for those who are telegram fans. Well, my mistake being so brief: the telegram group isn't really an official form of communication for ANSOL, but it was suggested one was created our last assembly, and decided that members of the ANSOL community could create an informal group there, which is the one I pointed you towards. As someone else already said, there is also a matrix group that bridges with the telegram group, and the matrix solution should be more acceptable freedom-wise, I believe.
